Competitions

The fair is divided into five divisions:

  1. Investigatory Project – experimental research performed on a topic.
  2. Display Project – informational poster on a researched topic. (No experiments performed)
  3. Art – art object with scientific theme
  4. Symposium – oral presentation
  5. Submitted Papers – written report.

Students are encouraged to enter as many divisions as they wish.

Schedule

8:00 a.m.
Setting Up Exhibits

Rooms open for setting up exhibits for Investigatory Projects and Display Projects and Art Exhibit.
Please bring all projects to the Baisi Center Gym. (Visitation in these areas is 11:35 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. During the judging period, 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., no one but exhibitors and judges are to be in these areas.)

Symposium Division Starts


9:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.
Judging

Students must be present at their Investigatory project exhibits during this time (unless they are giving a symposium) so the students can answer the judges’ questions. If the student is not present, the project may be disqualified.


11:45 a.m. – 12:15 p.m.
Lunch


12:20 p.m. – 2:30 p.m.
Olympiad Events


2:45 p.m.
Pack-up (Do not remove exhibits before 2:45 p.m.)


3:00 p.m.
Awards Assembly

Students do not have to be present to win but they do need someone there to pick up their prizes (classmates, teachers, or parents).
