You could win a trip to the Intel International Science Fair and Engineering Fair in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, May 13-18, 2012 (if the fair can find funding)!
For most of the categories, applications are due by March 12, 2012 to appear in the fair program. However, students can register any time after that date including the day of the fair.
Who can enter the fair?
To participate in the fair, the student must:
- be in grades 9-12.
- not have reached age 21 on or before May 1, 2012.
- attend public, private, or home school.
- live in RESA districts I, II, III, and part of RESA IV.
The territory for this fair covers southern West Virginia from Charleston south to the border and includes the following counties Boone, Braxton, Cabell, Clay, Fayette, Greenbrier, Kanawha, Lincoln, Logan, Mason, McDowell, Mercer, Mingo, Monroe, Nicholas, Pocahontas, Putnam, Raleigh, Wayne Webster, and Wyoming.
If you are a student in a different RESA district, there might be a regional fair for you. All 9-12 grade students are also eligible to participate in the state fair at Fairmont State, March 23-24, 2012, regardless of whether they participated in a regional fair.
What can students do at the fair?
Students can participate in the following categories: Investigatory Projects, Display Projects, Art Exhibits, Submitted Paper, Symposium and Olympiad Events. The Investigatory Projects is the only category that is eligible for the trip to Pittsburgh, PA.
